The Billboard app on Apple TV
Install the app, enter your gallery code, reach on-device settings, and lock the screen down for always-on use.

The Billboard app is what turns an Apple TV into a live screen. Almost everything about what shows on it is controlled from the dashboard, so the app itself stays deliberately simple: enter a gallery code, and it plays. This guide covers installing it, connecting it to a gallery, reaching the few on-device settings, and locking it down for a permanent display.
Install the app
- On the Apple TV, open the App Store.
- Search for Billboard Screen.
- Select Get to install.
Tip: the App Store release is still pending, so for now the app runs as a public TestFlight beta. You can install it from the App Store, or join the beta through TestFlight.
Enter your gallery code
On first launch the app shows a welcome screen.

- Type your gallery code with the on-screen keyboard.
- Select Start.
Your slideshow begins straight away. The AirPlay card appears over the top, drifting gently so nothing burns in, and anyone in the room can still AirPlay to the display — exactly as they would with Apple's built-in Conference Mode.

If you don't have a code yet, see Getting started for how to create a gallery and find its code.
On-device settings
The app has a small settings screen for when you need it:
- Press Play/Pause three times quickly to open it.
- From there you can change the gallery code and reload.
Reload forces an immediate refresh — handy when you've just made a change in the dashboard and want to see it now. The rest of the time, each screen refreshes on its own, on the schedule set in the dashboard.
Exit guard
To exit the app, press Back/Menu five times quickly. This deliberate sequence stops the display being closed by accident.
What lives in the dashboard
Almost everything else is controlled from the dashboard, not the TV — how long each item shows, the AirPlay panel, an on-screen clock, and notices. See Customise the display for the full set of controls. Your changes appear on screen on their own at the next refresh.
Keep it running unattended
Billboard is built to be left on:
- It keeps the screen awake and resumes on its own after a restart.
- For a permanent display, turn off the Apple TV's screen saver and set it not to sleep.
- To stop the app being exited at all, lock the Apple TV with Single App Mode.
